EUDIW References
This page provides references to the main regulatory documents, technical specifications, rulebooks, and reference implementations relevant to the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDIW) ecosystem and DIW Gateway integrations.
The EUDIW regulatory and technical framework continues to evolve. When designing or implementing an integration, always verify the currently applicable version of the referenced regulation, Architecture and Reference Framework (ARF), technical specification, or attestation rulebook.
Regulatory Framework
-
European Digital Identity Framework — Regulation (EU) 2024/1183
The regulatory framework establishing the European Digital Identity Wallet and extending the eIDAS framework.
-
EU Digital Identity Wallet — European Commission
The European Commission’s official information and documentation space for the EU Digital Identity Wallet.
EUDIW Architecture and Technical Specifications
-
Architecture and Reference Framework (ARF)
Defines the architecture, roles, trust model, functional requirements, and technical principles of the EUDIW ecosystem.
-
EUDIW Technical Specifications
Normative technical specifications defining interoperability requirements and interfaces used within the EUDIW ecosystem.
Avoid relying on a previously bookmarked version of the ARF for implementation decisions. Verify the currently applicable ARF and related technical specifications before implementing or updating an EUDIW integration.
Attestation Rulebooks
-
Attestation Rulebooks Catalogue
Catalogue of rulebooks defining requirements and data models for individual types of attestations used within the EUDIW ecosystem.
-
Defines the Person Identification Data (PID) attestation, including its attributes, metadata, and applicable requirements.
Attestation-specific requirements should be taken from the applicable rulebook. In particular, the set of mandatory and optional attributes can differ between attestation types and can change as the rulebooks evolve.
